This unit focuses on the theme of global citizenship and community responsibility. It includes reading texts about school rules for being a global citizen and a text about protecting the oceans, listening activities about a school project and a community project, speaking tasks about good citizen behaviors and class rules, and a writing task to create a social media post about being a global citizen. The unit also includes a story about a team that values teamwork and honesty over winning a prize, and a team project to make a poster about do's and don'ts for global citizens. By the end of the unit, students should be able to identify main ideas and details in texts and spoken language, use vocabulary related to global responsibility, describe good citizen behaviors, explain rules using 'must' and 'mustn't', and write a social media post about being a good citizen.
